My Bio:

Stefano Toxiri was born and grew up in Sardinia (Italy), where he earned a BSc degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2011 from the University of Cagliari.

For my subsequent studies he moved to Zurich (Switzerland) and earned a MSc in Robotics in 2014 from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), taking part in research projects in the field of rehabilitation robotics.

In September 2014 I joined the Department of Advanced Robotics at IIT in Genoa (Italy) as a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher within the SMART-E Training Network.

My research is on the design and control of wearable robots. I am particularly interested in how they can be controlled to act according to the needs and intentions of their human users.

I have been involved in the development of a robotic back support for assisting workers with manual handling.

The device can be worn comfortably and allows its user to move relatively unconstrained.

Work on the assistive strategy has been progressively advancing and offering an intuitive way for the user to pilot the robot, thereby maximizing its beneficial effect as an assistive device.
