My Bio:

Mateo was born in Korce, a small city in the south-east of Albania, where he completed his high school education. He then, in the age of 18 years old, decided to move to Rome for further studies and received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electronic Engineering with focus on Robotics and Automation (respectively in 2010 and 2013), both at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. The project of his Master’s thesis involved both the field of robot exploration and motion planning and in particular it consisted in the implementation of a novel algorithm for sensor-based exploration of unknown environments by a robot manipulator.

After his graduation and a brief internship experience as Software Developer, in March 2014, Mateo won a study grant for a one-year research project in "Optical Technologies for the ICT Industry" in Naples, Italy at the INO (National Institute of Optics), part of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). As part of the project he attended an initial training phase of about four months and then he joined the group of ITIA-CNR (Institute of Industrial Technologies and Automation) in Milan where worked as a full time researcher and contribute in the design and implementation of a robotic cell for the assembly of full-optical backplanes.

Currently he is an Early Stage Researcher (ESR) within the SMART-E training network and working as a PhD Research Fellow in the Marie Curie FP7 Framework: SMART-E project at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), University of Sheffield, UK. The scope of his research is “Real-time monitoring and control systems for collaborative robot machining”.
